MAIN ARCHITECTURE TASK:
Turkistan is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. In 2017, Turkistan was elected as the cultural capital of the entire Turk world. In order to preserve the authenticity of the architecture of Turkistan, that was built during a thousand-year history of the city, the solutions proposed within the framework of the competition should be formed as a modern reading of medieval Turk, Islamic and Persian architectures. Meaning that the works claimed by the competitor should be inspired by historical architecture, while carrying modern design and construction solutions. Contestants are not constrained by a strict and limited design framework with the exception of the conditions described above. Moreover, the highest appreciation will earn the works where the bidder will be able to develop not only the overall architecture of the object, but also offer and justify the ideas of content and efficient use of the area of the building.
GENERAL TASK: development of concepts for new facilities in the city of Turkistan. The solutions proposed within the framework of the competition should be formed as a modern interpretation of medieval Turk, Islamic and Persian architectures. That is, the works claimed by the contestants should be inspired by historical architecture while carrying modern architectural and construction solutions. Priority will be given to those works where the contestant will be able to develop not only the overall architecture design of the object, but also propose and substantiate the ideas of content and efficiently use the area for new objects in the city of Turkistan.
ALLOCATION CONDITIONS. GENERAL PLAN.
Participants are allowed to independently choose which object / objects to present from the given list within the framework of the Competition. The object / objects presented by the participant must be located on a symbolic rectangular area, the total area of which is indicated in the Technical Task, posted on the official website of the Competition:
It is obligatory to indicate points of “comfort” for the visitors of the object (placement of sanitary units, cafeteria, medical facilities, etc.).
The project should find the use of modern building materials and technologies, progressive design schemes.
Architectural solutions should correspond to the general architectural task (see sub-item 9.1.)
